Phillips Sr. started the ranch in 1936 with 640 acres which over the years grew to more than 1,800 acres. 

Phillips Ranch was a working cattle ranch and in the early 1950’s, B.F. Phillips Jr began raising quarter horses.  The youngest Phillips son became world-renowned in the horse breeding circuit and bred and trained Dash for Cash, his sorrel stallion.  Dash for Cash was the “Champion of Champions” in both 1976 and 1977 – the only horse in history to win the distinction twice.
