Anyone who has visited or lived in Texas can tell you how Texans have their own unique way of living. The state has charm, grace and sophistication that cannot simply be explained—you have to come here to experience true Texas traditions. For as much as Texas has recognizable state style and mannerisms, each region has a flavor all its own. In Frisco, Texas, a growing suburb on the outskirts of Dallas, you can experience the perks of metropolitan living with the comfort of a quiet and safe town.

Humble beginnings

Frisco’s story officially began in 1904, when the city was incorporated, but its roots lie in the years preceding this. In the mid-1800s, American pioneers rode their wagon trails along what came to be known as Preston Road, one of the oldest north-south roads in all of Texas. Eventually it became a watering spot for a line in the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, leading to its establishment on the Texas map and the beginnings of becoming a city.

Now, with a population of over 166,000 and growing, and a sprawling spread of 68 square miles, Frisco is quickly becoming one of the best small (big) cities in Texas!

Why Frisco is pretty amazing

Recently, Frisco placed second for the best place to raise a family in Texas. Yes, it is conveniently located to one of the biggest hubs in Texas, but its appeal goes well beyond that. Frisco has one of the lowest crime rates in Texas, ranking fourth in violent crime and ninth in property crime. In addition, it has a low unemployment rate, making it a great city to seek work, while also providing the opportunity for workers to commute to Dallas.

The city is also relatively young and kid-friendly, with 35% under 19 years old, giving it a vibrant, bustling vibe with plenty of good things on the horizon.

Eat, drink and be merry with all the food options

Like most places in Texas, Frisco delivers in the delicious cuisine department. Its proximity to Dallas’ metropolitan atmosphere means that a variety of cuisines have migrated up north. But first on your list should be a Texas staple: BBQ. Hutchins BBQ has been consistently voted best BBQ in the Greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and for good reason—it offers what they call “true Texas BBQ.” They run their pits 24/7, slowly smoking their meat over a variety of delicious wood. Their mouth-watering brisket is free of antibiotics and they make their premium sausages in-house daily.

For different flavors from south of the border, try Gloria’s Latin Cuisine. This Salvadorian/Mexican restaurant provides a unique dining experience, with flavor profiles that are certain to charm your taste buds. Try authentic gallo pinto or handmade pupusas paired with premium Mexican and Latin drink brands and types.

A place to call home

Home is where the comfort is, and in Frisco, there are many neighborhoods that add to the beauty of charm of the city. Phillips Creek Ranch is a lovely master-planned community with gorgeous Britton Homes ready for move-in and available to build. Neighborhood amenities include sprawling outdoor trails, parks and lakes, community gathering space and pools, and fitness centers with state-of-the-art equipment. It is also zoned to the fabulous Frisco ISD schools, offering yet another benefit for families.

Kick back and have a good time

If you are looking for something fun to do, Frisco has something to offer you, no matter where your interests lie. One of the coolest unique attractions in the area is the National Videogame Museum. You and your kids can celebrate the history of videogames, learn some interesting new facts and play some classic arcade games.

Get moving and get fit—one of the best things about Frisco is its seemingly endless outdoor activity venues. Arbor Hills Nature Park is a beautiful place to go hiking or jogging, as well as a serene place to plan a picnic.

The arts and entertainment options are plentiful, especially being so close to Dallas and the various sports teams. The minor league baseball team, Frisco RoughRiders, plays at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark in the heart of the city.

Whether you are a foodie, a family fun fanatic or an outdoor enthusiast, Frisco has something to offer you. Stop by and give this gorgeous city a visit, or make plans to call it home!
