For those with busy schedules, it can be hard to find time to go to the gym. However, there are ways to get in your daily workout at home without having to drive somewhere and you may find it easier to get into your workout without worrying about others around you.

1. Yoga

Yoga is one of those exercises that you can do anywhere. As long as you have a mat and an understanding of the poses, you can go through your routine at home or anywhere else you see fit. While yoga classes with an instructor are helpful, the internet has plenty of resources at your disposal that you can follow as you go through your routine. Because yoga emphasizes the importance of meditation and relaxation, your own home is the perfect place to practice peacefulness.

Popular yoga poses to master:

Downward Facing dog

Half Moon

2. Hand Weights

Hand weights are a convenient tool to have in your home that don’t take up a lot of space the same way other exercise equipment would. Hand weights add an extra umph to your exercise routine. For example, if you typically do lunges, push-ups, or sit-ups, you can easily incorporate hand weights into the mix in order to achieve a well-rounded workout that targets multiple areas of your body

Exercises perfect for hand weights:

Walking: as you walk, curl your hand weights and you would if you were stationary, alternating hands

Lunges: Same movements as if you were walking

Sit-ups: Gain more muscle by holding your weights in front of your chest as you lift your torso up to your knees in a sit-up

Push-ups: Have a weight in each hand and alternate bringing the weight up to your chest between each push-up

Dancing is easy to do at home because almost everybody finds themselves dancing like nobody’s watching in the comfort of their own home. Find a particularly roomy space in your home and dance it out!

Dancing Exercise Tip: treat your dancing at home the same way you would any other cardio exercise. Time yourself and track your heart rate so that you can record progress over time. In addition to better heart health and conditioning, you will tone some muscle as well.

4. Stair Stepping

For this exercise, all you need is a pair of stairs! You can get creative with this exercise as you can choose the pace and if you want to practice trailing backwards down a step or two. Like dancing, this is another way to utilize what you already have at home to get in some cardio without having to worry about taking a trip to the gym.

5. Jump Rope

Jumping rope is the perfect in-home exercise activity because it involves staying in place and doesn’t require a ton of space. This is another good way to get cardio in without taking up a bunch of space in your home or backyard
